KA Continues Preparations and Explores Problem Solving

Now that I've got onto posting video clips, I'm addicted!  Below are two short clips from groups working away this morning on preparations for Madagascar.  The group at the table is working on decorations, tickets, and souvenir bracelets. The group in the cardboard village is making sure everything is sturdy and adding some finishing touches.   I love how engaged they are in the footage.  Not shown is a small group who chose to take a break from preparations and play Snakes and Ladders working on numbers to 100.

The other video posted is from our problem solving activity today.  Notice the busy on-task talk that is happening.  It makes me so excited to re-watch it!  The challenge was to use 8 buttons and see how many combinations they could make (4 and 4, 6 and 2, etc.) and to document their solutions using the camera on the Ipad.  It was our first try with this in KA and they did a phenomenal job.  We're hoping to regularly use the Ipads during math challenges to support our learning.
